About me
My research project, which is carried out in collaboration with Historic Environment Scotland, explores what thermal retrofitting means for users of built heritage in Scotland. Using a participatory action research approach and working with residents, communities, organisations, heritage professionals and the building industry, it considers the factors impacting the decision-making of various actors involved in the ecology of retrofit and how these might apply to designated and non-designated built heritage. This CDA project is funded by ARCH/SGSAH. Before starting my PhD, I completed the MSc Heritage programme at the Â鶹´«Ã½AV in 2023. My work-related dissertation, undertaken in partnership with Simpson & Brown, examined the potential of retrofitting built heritage for energy efficiency as a conservation practice contributing to its social value. My undergraduate and first postgraduate were in art (BA Hons, D¨²n Laoghaire Institute of Art, Design and Technology, Ireland, 2013) and art history (MSc in Modern and Contemporary Art History, Criticism and Curating, University of Edinburgh, 2018). Since 2022, I have been working with Simpson & Brown.
